Course Description: This course will look at common neurological presentations related to those living with a stroke or traumatic brain injury. The focus will be
on the population that is more severe in diagnosis
that are seen for complex seating and mobility needs along the rehabilitation process. We will discuss a brief overview of CVA and TBI presentation and func- tional impacts that may happen to their motor, visu- al, sensory, and vestibular system that could impact positioning. A brief discussion will be had on unique considerations for positioning components based on this population’s needs and what options exist to meet those needs. This course will look at the mobility algo- rithm for appropriately selecting a mobility device that helps a client be as independent, safe, and timely to perform MRADLs while focusing on the literature. We will review unique considerations when it comes to concerns of visual field and what literature shows that helps for assessing and training individuals with unilat- eral neglect and other impacts from CVA/TBI.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:
1. Identify a minimum of 3 postural abnormal- ities that could develop as a complication after CVA/TBI.
2. Describe at least 2 key differences among mo- bility base selection and their functional impact. 3. Distinguish at least 2 key training principles
in the literature to implement when working on power mobility with a post CVA end user.
